Linda King

Linda M.(formerly Stewart) King, 57, of Butler, PA, passed away at 3:10 AM on July 31, 2009 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born August 1, 1951 in Freeport, PA, the daughter of the late Warren R.Watt and Dolores Watt of Freeport. Linda was a 1969 graduate of Freeport High School and a 1973 graduate of Clarion University with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Cabot. She had taught at Butler Catholic, cared for children in her home and had substitute taught in multiple school districts in the area. Linda loved beading, hunting, camping, white water rafting, canoe trips, gardening, NASCAR, Lernerville racing, the Pittsburgh sport teams and taking her grandkids to do exciting things in the Butler area. She was involved with PBCers, the national organization for people with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis of the liver, as well as being an advocate for organ donor awareness. Linda would be thrilled if more people would sign up to become organ donors. "Just say Yes!" Surviving are her husband, Charles R. King whom she married July 3, 2004; her mother, Dolores Watt, her daughter, Heather and her husband, Shamus Young of Butler, 2 sons, Nicholas and his wife, Melanie (Nemcek) Stewart of Orlando, FL and James Stewart of Butler, her stepson, Jared King of Butler; 3 grandchildren, Rachel, Esther and Issac Young, all of Butler; and her brother, Tim and his wife, Cheryl Watt of Freeport. Linda was preceded in death by father, her paternal grandparents, Richard W. and Myrtle Watt and her maternal grandparents, Julian and Wladyslawa Nowakowski. Friends will be received on Monday, August 3rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W Jefferson St., Butler, PA. A prayer service will be held at 6 PM on Monday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot with Father Ward Stakem officiating. Interment will follow at St Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Freeport. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PBCers "Dr. Gershwin's Research Fund," PBCers Organization, 1430 Garden Road, Pearland, TX 77581.
