Helen L. "Red" Shute, 84, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler. She was born November 30, 1931 in Kissinger Mills, PA, the daughter of the late Charles R. and Edna Mae (Anthony) Sanford. Helen was a member of Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church. She also had belonged to TOPS. She had a special collection of pigs received from family and friends. Helen especially enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She had retired from Bobbie Brooks. Surviving are 2 daughters, Brenda Shute and Karen L. Zedreck, both of Butler; her granddaughter, Tammy Zedreck of Grove City; 2 sisters, Virginia Womeldorf of Vandergrift and Shirley Minnich of Leechburg; her brother, Charles Sanford of North Apollo and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Allen F. Shute, and 4 sisters, Irene, Evelyn, Betty and Sara. Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 2-4 6-8 PM. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11 AM with Rev. Jeffrey Curtis officiating. Interment in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
