Frank T. "Fritz" Dano, Jr.

Frank T. "Fritz" Dano, Jr., 92, of Butler, left to be with the Lord at 8:15AM on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Butler. He was born Thursday, February 12, 1914 in Thomas, WV, the son of the late Frank T. Dano, Sr. and the late Julia Kocan Dano. Mr. Dano was a decorated Army Veteran of WWII having served in the South Pacific under the command of General Douglas MacArthur. He was a member of the American Legion Post #778 for 61 years. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid golfer in his early years. He was the first senior men's club champion in 1957 at the Armco Country Club. He retired from Armco Butler Works in 1976 as a Stainless Surface Quality Auditor under special assignment. Surviving are his devoted wife of 65 years, Eva Milich Dano whom he married March 10, 1941; 3 daughters, Paulette Hutnick, wife of Robert of Butler, Stephanie Dano, wife of Dennis Barnette of Wexford, and Julia Bohin, wife of James of Butler; 3 sons, Robert Dano and his wife Mary of Lancaster, PA, Frank T. Dano, III and his wife, Becky of Lancaster, PA, and Paul Dano of Lancaster, PA; 9 grandchildren, Lisa A. Dundon of Glenridge, NJ, Debra A. Kraustok of Butler, Dawn M. Snyder of Cranberry Twp., Gina M. Dano of Rosemont, PA, Mary Beth Fritz of Devon, PA, Melissa A. Bohin of Butler, Erik Bohin of Butler, Frank T. Dano, IV of Lancaster, PA, and Mark Dano of Lancaster, PA; 6 great-grandchildren, Thomas R. Kraustok of Butler, Isabel & Olivia Dundon of Glenridge, NJ, David Fritz III and Charlotte Fritz of Devon, PA, and Jayden "Peanuts" Serrano of Butler; 3 Sisters, Mary Dano of Lyndora, Helen Hriso of Atlanta, GA, and Julie Krelow of Renfrew; a number of nieces and nephews; and his Best Friend, Joseph Smietana of Butler. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Colonel Basil "Wallace" Dano, Nicholas "Bus" Dano, John Dano, and the Very Rev. Paul Dano, V.F. (Mitred Archpriest). Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9, Friday, July 14 at the Young Funeral Home, Ltd., Butler, PA. Funeral services will be held at St. John's The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lyndora on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10AM with Rev. Dennis Bogda officiating. Parastas services will be held Friday at 3pm at the funeral home. Military service Friday at 7PM at the funeral home and military honors at graveside by American Legion Post #778. Interment will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park.
