Frank “Chip” Edward Uhl, 1958-2020 On Tuesday, January 7th 2020, Frank “Chip” Edward Uhl, Loving father, mentor, and friend, passed away at the age of 61 following a courageous fight with cancer. Chip was born on March 20, 1958 in Pittsburgh PA to Francis Uhl and Nancy (Butzler) Uhl. Chip was the consummate tradesman, a masterful carpenter who left an indelible mark on countless projects throughout the region. He served as a long time member of the Butler County Planning Commission and passed on his knowledge and experience as an instructor at the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) of western PA. Chip had a passion for creating and constructing and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t accomplish with his tools in hand. He approached the world with a “can do” attitude. He always said “there are no problems, only solutions” and you could always be sure Chip would find the solution. He was always there to help anyone in need and could always be counted on to do more than needed. He was a great friend and couldn’t travel anywhere without seeing someone he know or knew of him. He was always sharing and teaching, passing on his knowledge to the guys that worked with him and anyone willing to take the time to learn. His love for his work was only outmatched by his love for his family. He was, in return, immensely loved by his children and they were fortunate to have him as their biggest supporter, coach, fan, teacher, and friend. More recently, Chip fell in love with his new role as a grandfather to three grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pa”. They loved and cherished every moment they had with him. Chip was preceded in death by his father, Francis, and mother Nancy. He is survived by his son, Travis Dane Uhl, wife Courtney R Uhl, daughter Sawyer; his daughter, Erin O’Reilly Doran, husband Stephen Doran, daughter Riley, son Reece; two brothers, David and John; three sisters, Susan, Judy, and Stacy; his aunt, Penny Butzler; his ex wife Heather; his partner Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews Chip has requested no funeral or formal service. A memorial/benefit will be held in his honor on February 15th 2020 at the Lyndora American Legion Post 778 from 1-6pm.
