Keith LaVerne Oesterling

Keith LaVerne Oesterling, 81, of Butler and Port Ritchey, FL, died at 11:05 PM on Friday, November 4, 2005 at Butler Memorial Hospital. He was born Saturday, March 29, 1924 in McKees Rocks, PA, the son of the late Leland William Oesterling and the late Marcella Grabe Oesterling. Mr. Oesterling belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing and to All Saints Lutheran Church in Hudson, FL. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 694, New Castle Scottish Rite, Syria Temple, Buco Trailer Club. He was a former PA Sewage Enforcement officer and former supervisor in Jefferson Township. He had owned & operated his own backhoe. His interests included playing card games, fishing, tending his citrus garden in Florida, reading, recycling papers for his church, listening to gospel music, hymns and marches. He especially enjoyed visits with his family and friends. He retired from Armco after 30 years of service as a roll grinder. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II. Surviving are his wife, Edith I.(Protzman) Oesterling whom he married September 11, 1946; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Gregory (Linda) Hess of Valencia, Mrs. John (Nancy) Atwell of Butler and Mrs. Walter L. (Laura) Miller of Butler; 1 son and his wife, Bruce LaVerne and Cheryl Oesterling of Richmond, IN; 7 grandchildren, Dr. Kelsie Bernot and her husband, John of Laurel, MD, Suzanne Atwell of Butler, Nicole Stults and her husband, Dr. Daniel of Richmond, IN, Keith Atwell and his wife, Isabela of Sickleville, NJ, Aubrie Reedy and her husband, Jason of Ft. Collins, CO, Nathan Oesterling and his wife, Carrie of Richmond, IN and Katie Evans and her husband, Chad of Richmond, IN; 5 great grandchildren, Kyler and Braeden Oesterling, Madeline and Hudson Stults, all of Richmond, IN and Lacey Reedy of Ft. Collins, CO; 6 sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Janice) Fry of Butler, Mrs. Wayne (Evelyn) Cypher of Butler, Mrs. Eleanor England of Orlando, FL, Mrs. Donald (N. Carol) Greenwalt of Butler, Mrs. George (Kay) Kuhn of Howell, MI and Karen Mulligan of Butler; 3 brothers, William Oesterling of Trenton, MO, Charles Oesterling of Butler and Ronald Oesterling of Warren, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Doris and Leah. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Monday at the Young Funeral Home, Ltd., Butler, PA. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 10:30 AM. Interment in the Gruenwald Cemetery. Military Honors at graveside by VFW Post #249.
