Nina Elizabeth Dillon

Nina Elizabeth (Turnblacer) Dillon, 88, of Butler died gently, in the loving care of her family, on November 13, 2010 at her home. Born in Crafton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Frederick F. and Gertrude L. (Joyce) Turnblacer. She was a graduate of Butler High School, and the Butler Hospital School of Nursing. She also did course work at the University of Pittsburgh. She worked as a surgical nurse at Butler Hospital and an office nurse for her brother, the late Charles B. Turnblacer, M.D. She also served as the first school nurse in the Har-Mer School District in Northern Butler County and later as a ward nurse at Philadelphia General Hospital. In her earlier years she was active in the Junior and Intermediate Women Clubs of Butler. She also was a life member of the Butler Hospital Auxiliary and Nurses Alumni Association. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where she served for many years as a member of the Church Council, Alter Society and St. Paul’s Women and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf with her friends and family. She was a member of several bridge clubs and the Butler Country Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest delights were family gatherings to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, holidays or other occasions throughout the year. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Attorney Charles E. Dillon. She is survived by seven children, Ann Dillon of Austin, Texas, Charles E. Dillon, Jr. (Carol A. Tokar) of Butler, Robert D. Dillon (Angela E.) of Benbrook Texas, Patricia J. Birckbichler (Jeffrey) of Butler, Daniel F. Dillon (Dr. Mary Catherine) of Cranberry Township, Elizabeth J. Catalane (Dr. David B.) of Sewickley and Mary Jo Hutchison (John E. Jr.) of Saxonburg. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 2 great grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. Charles B. Turnblacer, M.D., John J. Turnblacer and Frederick F. Turnblacer, and two sisters, Mary Jane Blaine and Ann C. Bartoe. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday November 20, 2010 at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church,128 North McKean Street, Butler. St Paul’s Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the Church to recite the rosary. Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Butler. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001 or the BMH Caring Angel Program.
